My name is Brad, and I write fiction, code web toys and make art, all right here in Edmonton, Canada.
I also have two decades of experience in building, deploying and managing technical information systems for goverments, non-profits and small businesses. In various roles I have used a systems-thinking approach to identify gaps in existing processes and tactics, and helped build, launch, and operate websites, databases, and communications platforms that connect and interconnect organizations with both themselves and their customers.
I am open to all sorts of opportunities and happy to connect and chat about your projects and how I might help out you or your organization.

Getting Here
In the mid-90s I set out in my career intending to be a biologist. Living systems, organic processes, and the complexity of the natural world fascinate me. I wanted to study and research and spread that fascination with the world. Insects, ecologies, and genetics: these were my fodder of my post-secondary studies.
Instead, after convocation, I found myself in jobs where rather than doing research or teaching directly, I was supporting small organizations by leaning into a blossoming interest in technology as a means to communicate and educate about science, health, food production, environment, land use and more.
All this ultimately landed me in roles that lasted over twenty years designing, building, deploying, and managing public technology systems for non-profits, NGOs, small businesses, and governments.
What I Do for Fun
I create elaborate fictional worlds.
What does that mean exactly? It means a lot of writing. It means making art, taking photos, crafting digital media, telling stories, and simply building the frameworks that make such worlds interesting to explore.
